Getting started
Why do I need to download a model?
Unmix separates audio on your device using machine learning models. The models are downloaded separately to keep the app small. The vocals and instrumental model is about 430 MB, and the four-stem model is about 260 MB. Additional free space is needed while a model is being installed and for your results.
You can see and delete downloaded models in Settings within the app.
A model download failed or is stuck.
Make sure you are connected to the internet and that your device has enough free storage, then try the download again. Unmix checks downloaded models and replaces any that are damaged. Using Wi-Fi is recommended because the models are large.
How do I add songs?
Choose an audio file from the Files app, or paste a direct HTTPS link to an audio file. You can queue several songs, and Unmix will process them one after another.
Links must point directly to an audio file. Links to streaming services or web pages that play audio are not supported.
Does Unmix need an internet connection?
Separation itself runs on your device. An internet connection is only needed to download models, import audio from links, and make or restore purchases.
Separating audio
What is the difference between the two modes?
Vocals & Instrumental splits a song into a vocal track and everything else. 4 Stems separates vocals, drums, bass, and other instruments into individual tracks and requires Unmix Pro.
How long does a separation take?
It depends on the length of the song and your device. Newer devices are faster. Unmix shows the progress and an estimated remaining time for each task. For the best performance, keep Unmix open while it is processing.
How do I export my results?
Open a finished result to preview it and adjust the level of each stem. Use the share button to export a single stem or all stems together as WAV files.
The separation quality is not what I expected.
Results depend on the source material. Higher-quality audio files usually separate better than heavily compressed ones. Songs with dense mixes, heavy effects, or instruments that sound similar to voices can be harder to separate cleanly.
Unmix Pro and purchases
What does Unmix Pro include?
Unmix Pro unlocks unlimited separations and four-stem separation. It is available as a monthly subscription, a yearly subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase. Without Pro, you can complete three vocals and instrumental separations per day.
When does the free daily limit reset?
The limit resets at midnight in your device's time zone. Only separations that finish successfully count toward the limit.
How do I restore my purchase on a new device?
Sign in with the same Apple Account you used to buy Unmix Pro, open the Unmix Pro screen in the app, and tap Restore Purchases.
How do I cancel my subscription?
In Unmix, open Settings and tap Manage Subscription. You can also go to Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions on your iPhone or iPad. Cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period to avoid being charged for the next one.
See Apple's guide to canceling a subscription for more details.
How do I request a refund?
Purchases are handled by Apple, so refunds are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. See Apple's guide to requesting a refund.
Privacy
Is my music uploaded anywhere?
No. Audio is processed on your device, and Unmix has no accounts, analytics, or tracking. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Can I use Unmix on any song?
Please only process audio that you own or have permission to use. You are responsible for how you use the separated tracks.
